Is Airman Roger Fortson to Blame for His Own Death? – The Journal of Steffanie Rivers | WATCH

*While many people spent last weekend celebrating Mother’s Day, the mother and family members of Senior Airman Roger Fortson were planning his funeral after, the 23-year-old was shot and killed by an Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputy in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.

It’s the latest incident where a law enforcement officer has come under scrutiny for a fatal shooting in the line of duty. The deputy, whose name has not been released, was put on administrative leave. And Fortson’s family hired civil rights attorney Ben Crump to represent them.

The general consensus among people who have viewed the cop cam video is the deputy was wrong and should be held criminally liable. What role, if any, did Fortson play in his own demise?

Retired FBI Agent Dwayne Gibson answers these questions and more, including the do’s and don’ts of being Black in America while legally carrying a firearm. Click the video above for more details.
