*During the red carpet premiere of her Netflix film “The Union,” Halle Berry explained why she dropped out of Ryan Murphy’s legal drama starring Kim Kardashian.
The series titled “All’s Fair” is set in an all-female law firm, which Murphy described as “a high-end, glossy and sexy adult procedural” for Hulu. The cast includes Kardashian, Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, Teyana Taylor, and Naomi Watts. Kardashian, Paulson, Nash, Watts, and Kris Jenner will serve as executive producers. Murphy is also set to direct.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of “The Union” Berry broke her silence about her exit.
“You know, things happen for a reason,” Berry said. “[But] I would have loved to have been there with those ladies, and I know it’s gonna be great.”
A source close to the situation told Variety that Berry was no longer involved in the project because of a scheduling conflict.
“[It’s] Ryan Murphy! I mean, you know, duh,” Berry added. “But, next time!”
Murphy enlisted Kim Kardashian for the series after she appeared in his “American Horror Story: Delicate.” He even made a guest appearance on *The Kardashians* to personally pitch the project to her.
“Kim is the world’s best, most expensive divorce lawyer in the world,” he explained of the plot, per InStyle.
“When you’re going through a divorce, I would imagine that you’re very close to your lawyer and you tell them everything. It has what Sex and the City has, which is girlfriends. It has a bond of women trying to get through an experience together.”
