*50 Cent’s G-Unit is taking over the Millennium Movie Studio in Shreveport, Louisiana, with the rapper previously announcing his commitment to further developing his film and TV ventures in the city.
Orville Hall, G-Unit’s growth adviser, said 50 Cent has been thrilled with the warm reception and support he has received from the city for his ideas.
“50 was in town yesterday. He feels like he’s home when he’s here now. People are welcoming. We’ve met with the mayor,” Hall said, KSLA reports.
“The city council has been so open armed to him. We’ve met with the Caddo administrators, and they were all so welcoming,” Hall continued. “Everybody is invested in this, everybody is happy about this, and that’s what 50 is happy about.”
In a statement to Billboard, Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux said, “We are thrilled that G-Unit Studios will plant its roots in Shreveport.”
“This city’s rich culture and talent provide the perfect backdrop for this endeavor. We are eager to collaborate with Mr. Jackson and G-Unit Film & Television to bring captivating movies and entertainment to Shreveport and Caddo Parish,” he added.
Per KSLA, Hall said “All of G-Unit Film and Television Studio will be handled by 50′s film team that will come to the city. Nothing is done yet.”
He added, “The building still has to be renovated, so once that happens, we’ll move to that stage but right now it’s about population. It’s about renovation and revitalization. It’s about helping the city build their workforce and then introducing the city to the world under Humor and Harmony.”
50 Cent has spent several days in Shreveport preparing for his Humor and Harmony festival, which will officially introduce the G-Unity Foundation.
“This is an economic plan. And again, it’s not about the money. This is introducing G-unity, which will be a charitable foundation in Shreveport where we can go and help the community. So, Shreveport, fortunately or unfortunately, is the part of Shreveport-Bossier that needs the most attention right now,” Hall said.
All proceeds from the four-day festival will benefit the G-Unity Foundation, which will, in turn, reinvest the funds back into the community.
