*“This little choir!” said Ashley Hunter, lead vocalist of the Fresh Start Worship choir, about her reaction to the first Stellar nomination. “The first Stellar nomination took is aback. We went to the Stellar Awards in Vegas and sang at the preshow…in a room full of legends.”

The choir went on to garner two more Stellar nominations. Recently three-time Stellar nominated Fresh Start Worship released the “He is Here” (Marquis Boone Enterprises) album. The album was led by EPs “He is Excellent” and “He is Friend” earlier this year. Offering twelve songs, the new project features vocal assistance from featured artists Kelontae Gavin and Tiphani Montgomery.

“They are family,” Hunter told me when I asked about the featured vocalists, especially the very popular Gavin. “Kelontae is family, he is Marquis’ son. I did his booking for him, He has always been a part of our house and Marquis has a great relationship with Tiphani, they are ‘bestie’s.”

The house she speaks of is the Fresh Start Church in Duluth, Georgia, which is under the leadership of Pastor Marquis Boone. Pastor Boone oversees Marquis Boone Enterprise, an entertainment production company, and manages the Fresh Start Worship choir.

“Casey J was the first artist that came out of Marquis Boone (Enterprises),” Ashley added. “That opened up doors. We started with the first (self-titled) album and ‘Mention’ (the single) was a hit.”

Casey J became a #1 Billboard Chart topper. Then Fresh Start Worship debuts and their single “Mention,’ which has Chan Renae and Patrique Fortson on lead, made the Gospel industry take notice. www.MarquisBoone.com
