*HBO has released the teaser trailers for the “The Batman” spinoff series “The Penguin” starring Colin Farrell, as well as the long-awaited return of “True Detective.”
The events in “The Penguin” series “starts about a week after the film The Batman ends. So Gotham is still somewhat underwater,” Farrell told Extra. The series will explore the Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham.
Per Complex, “The Penguin” also stars Cristin Milioti as Carmine Falcone’s daughter Sofia Falcone, Michael Zegen as Carmine’s son Alberto Falcone, and Clancy Brown as former top gangster Salvatore Maroni as well Michael Kelly, Rhenzy Feliz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, and David H. Holmes.
“The Penguin” is coming to HBO’s new streaming service Max Original in 2024. Watch the teaser via the YouTube clip above.

HBO has also debuted the teaser trailer for “True Detective: Night Country,” the fourth season of the hit anthology series which will premiere later this year. This new mystery is set in Alaska and stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.
HBO and HBO Max boss Casey Bloys told THR that “we’ve been developing various ideas” for the franchise.

The series is centered around Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro who are looking to solve the case of six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanishing without a trace, when the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska. The pair will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.
“True Detective” first aired in 2014 starring Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey who would go on to EP the follow-up seasons. Colin Ferrell led Season 2 and Mahershala Ali starred in the dynamic third season that aired in 2019.
