*Webbies, one thing Black people will do is laugh; we don’t take nothing seriously. Sometimes, we laugh to keep from crying, and the Alabama Tea Party has got the community in a chokehold on Mike Tyson‘s internet. Folks have been yucking it up regarding the braw making gifs and memes, launching t-shirt brands, buying Alabama Slammas (which is excellent for the economy; we wonder if we need to buy stocks in folding chair companies?), and giving history lessons. Social media influencer Mr. Ernest Crim III made a video explaining the significance of the location where the Montgomery Mollywop occurred, saying the dock is where enslaved ancestors were auctioned off and sold. The fact those Riverboat thugs felt comfortable enough to attack the Black security guard like a pack of hyenas in broad daylight shows how entitled some White folks think and regard Black authority. Even the ferry boat is named the Harriot II, and a woman detailed how she and other women did a ceremony honoring the ancestors before the melee broke out. Whether people want to accept it or not, a significant cultural reset is happening.

Now it’s time for some jokes; Twitter wasted no time putting together a mashup of the events at the Montgomery Riverfront Park set to the tunes of $olotique Beats appropriately titled “Brawl.” The video highlighted some key players, the security guard flinging his Black snapback like Bobby Shmurda as a Batman signal for help, the 16-year crew member dubbed Aquamayne for swimming from the ferry to the dock to Milly Rock the Alabasters, and Unc, who played whack-a-mole with the attackers with a folding chair, which was invented and patented by a Black man named Nathaniel Alexander. The whole altercation is so Shakespearean, dramatic, suspenseful, and satisfying considering the years of disrespect Black people have endured in this country: slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynching, the burning down of our towns and businesses, assassinations, the drug wars, mass incarceration, banning us from receiving loans to start businesses or owning a home, devaluing our homes, denying us employment, adequate medical care, poisoning our foods and products, gerrymandering, redlining, mass incarceration, voter suppression, lying, cheating, and killing us every which, all those emotions culminated and exploded on August 5, 2023, it gave, and it is still giving Chef’s kiss.

Social media influencer @ThatBoyFunny did the entire reenactment with his buddies and had people chuckling it up. One person posted, “I cannot stop watching it is too funny. I love how we can come together and make light and fun of a messed up situation all white people, not Karen all Black people, not criminals.????????????????????????.”

Social media is not letting up on the Montgomery brawl. People created some of the funniest memes that are now a part of the culture. Check them out.

Oh yeah, we know you thirstin’ for the visuals, so keep scrollin’ for ’em!
