*Shirley Strawberry’s incarcerated husband Ernesto Williams is apparently still married to his first wife, Edith Williams.
According to YouTube blogger Chronicle Speaks, Edith informed the outlet that she is his only wife and provided receipts in the form of a marriage certificate. The documents, shared by SandraRose.com, reveal they have been married for the past 38 years.
Ernesto and Edith reportedly tied the knot in 1985 in South Carolina and have never divorced. The first wife also denies that Ernesto has been married three other times, claiming those “marriages” are not valid.
As SandrRose.com reports, Ernesto’s other “wives” include Carol, whom he was married to for two years, and Martha, his alleged wife of 20 years.
Chronicle Speaks reportedly confirmed via the county clerk in Aiken County that Edith’s marriage to Ernesto is still valid in South Carolina. Since the state does not permit bigamy, any of Ernesto’s marriages that occurred after 1985 are invalid.
We reported previously that Strawberry’s estranged husband was arrested and jailed last year and charged with multiple counts of fraud and identity theft. Williams is still being held in the Fulton County Jail in Georgia without bond.
Strawberry addressed her marital woes on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show.” She is a longtime fixture on the radio program and host of the “Strawberry Letter” segment.
Earlier this month, Shirley was the subject of her own Strawberry Letter, and she informed Harvey that she filed for divorce from Ernesto. But as SandraRose.com points out, their marriage may not be valid in the first place.
