*Academy Award-winning actress and comedian Mo’Nique is featured in season two of the hit STARZ crime drama “BMF.” Her character is Goldie, a sophisticated Atlanta strip club owner who knows the streets just like she knows her dancers.

Goldie forms an alliance with the Flenory brothers as they move operations from Detroit to Atlanta. Goldie is fiercely protective of the people in her world and will care for them and her business at all costs.

EURweb spoke exclusively with Mo’Nique about the character and her relationship with Meech (Demetrius Flenory Jr.)

The actress channeled her aunt Vera as inspiration for the character. Mo’Nique describes Goldie as that sister that always made sure her community was good. “Everybody may not have liked the way she did it. But nonetheless, she took care of our community. Goldie is warm and full of love but won’t regret it if she has to send you on your way,” she explained.

Mo’Nique said Meech and Goldie have a special relationship. “They feel something for each other that they were both searching for. So I think you start seeing this dynamic with this older woman, and this younger guy, this baby that’s fresh into the game, but this woman has seen it all. And they have this connection with each other. So I think that when you understand their relationship, you will see they don’t realize how much they will be with each other.”

The comedian also shared additional insight into Meech’s mindset, saying, “When you watch ‘BMF’ the first season, you see Meech trying to get the love and acceptance from his parents. And it’s not that they don’t love them. She – ‘Lucielle’ portrayed by Michole Brianna White – can’t love him how he needs her to love him. So he’s looking for that nurturing. Even the toughest of the tough, they still look for that and want to be nurtured.”

Mo added, “You see the struggle and the battle between Meech and his mother. But when you see Meech and Goldie, there’s no battle. Instead, there’s a welcoming.”
