*A pro-Palestinian protester has been arrested for tossing a box of rodents into a McDonald’s while shouting “Free Palestine.”
Viral video shows mice painted black, red, white, and green – the colors of the Palestinian flag – being thrown into a McDonald’s location at Birmingham’s Star City Complex. Another video shows workers trying to get the rodents out of the store.
A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident in our Birmingham Star City restaurant last night. The restaurant has been fully sanitized, and our pest control partners have been called out to conduct a full inspection.”
Similar rodent-dumping incidents occurred amid protests in central London, calling for the Gaza conflict to end. A second video shows mice in a box at the McDonald’s in Perry Barr. A third video shows a group of masked people dumping a box of mice in a branch in Small Heath, BBC News reports.
According to the BBC, a 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the Birmingham incident.
“We understand the distress this will have caused and it’s not acceptable in any circumstances,” West Midlands Police posted on X. The incident is being treated as a “public nuisance offense.”
A 30-year-old man, Billal Hussain, is also wanted in connection with the crimes, BBC reports.
The rodent attacks come after “an Israeli franchise donated 100,000 meals and offered food for Israeli Defense Force soldiers at a 50% discount following the October 7th terrorist attack on the country,” per Fox News.
