*Ice Cube recently invited his X (formerly Twitter) fans for a question-and-answer session. His fans could ask him any question under the sun. However, most questions were queries about his upcoming album, “Man Down.”

Other questions touched on the rapper’s NWA group. One notable question took a swipe at NWA, trying to partly blame the group for the bad behavior in the Black community.

“Was N.W.A part of the agenda to destroy conscious rap, which was growing in popularity at the time, and promote sex, violence, and gangster behavior amongst the youth?” an X user asked. It was more of a commentary than a sincere question seeking answers. Even before Ice Cube himself responded, the question attracted several replies from other X users.

The rapper finally chipped in on the critical question. He disagreed with the commenter’s insinuation that NWA helped fuel moral decadence in the Black community.

He reminded his audience that the same negative social issues were already in existence in the Black and Latino communities long before NWA was created.

Other similar sentiments were expressed by other commenters, who also blamed NWA for the rot in the Black communities. Ice Cube responded to these other questions as well, defending NWA over and over.

“Crack was in the neighborhoods a decade before gangsta rap. In the 70s they called it freebase,” Cube wrote. “So was heroin, weed, Mollys, gangbanging, drive-bys, pimping and ho-ing, dropping out of school, young girls getting pregnant, cussing, and then using the word Ni**a. It was all her before NWA.”

To another user, he replied: “You jumped in a conversation and you didn’t even know the real debate. The question going around the rap community…Is NWA the cause of the black community’s downfall?”

The rap legend is not the type who holds back when it comes to expressing his personal views on any issue making rounds. He also comments on ongoing political matters. Ice Cube likes to express his real feelings.

He keeps his feelings real not just when he is speaking, but also when he is singing. He sings his views, identifying with issues millions of people deal with. This has endeared him to his fans, from the time he was part of a group to now that he is a solo artist.

Meanwhile, if you’re wondering, his “Man Down” album is reportedly undergoing final touches and is likely to be out “soon.” He has not revealed the release date and track list, but all things point to an imminent release.
