*A three-year-old Georgia boy is fighting to stay alive after accidentally shooting himself in the head. The child’s father was arrested for the heinous incident but says he is not to blame.

Ciera Scott, the mother of the child named Amir Porter, tells WSB that he remains under sedation after he got a hold of a gun while in his father’s care and shot himself in the head. The boy’s father, Jermecia Tresha Martin, 29, and the woman he was with at the time of the incident, Devante Brothea Porter, 23, are facing charges.

According to Law & Crime, the Douglasville Police Department arrested Porter and Martin over the weekend on charges of “cruelty to a child in the second degree, aggravated assault, reckless conduct, false statements and writings, and tampering with evidence,” the outlet writes.

Cops said the couple and the child were staying at an extended stay hotel in Lithia Springs when Amir found the loaded weapon inside the room and accidentally shot himself. EMS were called to an Intown Suites hotel on West Market Circle on the morning of Jan. 21 and transported the injured boy to a local hospital.

Amir reportedly remains in critical and his mother says “he’s doing a lot of movement and the doctors say those are good signs,” Scott told WSB.

“I never thought I would be in this situation. I don’t wish this pain on nobody,” she said.

According to Scott, her son was with his father and another woman when he was nearly fatally wounded.

“On January 21, 2023 while visiting with his father, Amir, affectionately known as, ‘Wuga’ allegedly got access to a gun and shot himself in the head,” stated a GoFundMe campaign by Scott’s cousin Cherlonda Freeman.

Our goal is to raise money for Ciera, Amir’s mother, to assist with medical and all other expenses needed to assist with the care for Amir during this difficult time. Monies will be used to keep this young single mother from having to worry about finances at this current moment. We want all of her focus to solely be on the healing and recovery of her only child, Amir,” the campaign states.

During a court hearing on Monday, Porter maintained his innocence, according to a video from WSB. Scott claims Porter initially lied to first responders about the nature of their son’s injuries. He allegedly claimed that the boy injured his head on the hotel mini-fridge. His tale fell apart when paramedics reportedly found a bullet hole in the ceiling of the motel room.

The Douglasville Police Department has launched an investigation into the shooting. Watch the video report below.
