*Gayle King expects Charles Barkley to remain quiet about what goes on behind-the-scenes of their upcoming CNN talk show, according to insiders.
King has “some apprehension because she knows how Charles loves to gab,” a source revealed, RadarOnline.com reports. King and Barkely will host the weekly prime-time program “King Charles,’ but an insider told the National Enquirer, “there’s still some apprehension because she knows how Charles loves to gab and name-drop about his famous friends.”
“He’s been doing it for years, bragging about his associations with Michael Jordan and others. It may seem harmless enough on the surface — but for Gayle, it’s a time bomb waiting to happen!”
In June, the duo appeared on TNT to announce their new CNN show. We reported previously that “King Charles” will be a live discussion show. CNN bossman Chris Licht told staffers in a memo that the show will be “an exciting new way we are delivering culturally relevant programming and unique perspectives to our audience, from two incredibly dynamic personalities.”
King said that they would talk about politics on the show, but Barkley interjected and said, “But we don’t want to say we are a liberal, conservative, Republican, Democrat. That is one of the things that has already ruined television in general. She is going to be a straight shooter, and you know I am going to be a straight shooter.”
He added: “All I want is people, even if I disagree with them, to be honest with me. I don’t want them saying things to get clickbait. That is one of the things that is what drives me crazy about people in our profession right now.”
There is a lot of pressure on King and Barkley to deliver right away, Radar reports, and King “expects Charles to keep his mouth shut for a change,” the source revealed, per the outlet.
“Loose lips sink ships — that’s how she sees it,” explained an insider. “It’s not like she or anyone else is anticipating anything untoward happening on set, but that’s not the point.”
The tea spiller told the National Enquirer that “a lot of people think Gayle should just accept him for what he is and let it be water off a duck’s back.”
