*We caught up with actress Dominique Fishback to dish on her thrilling new role in Prime Video’s horror series “Swarm,” from co-creators and executive producers Janine Nabers and Donald Glover.

Per the official synopsis: “Swarm, set between 2016-2018, follows Dre (Fishback), an obsessed fan of the world’s biggest pop star who sets off on an unexpected cross-country journey. Dre’s obsession with a popular musician has her committing obscene acts, but how far will her infatuation take her?”

Nabers previously said that this series is not specifically targeting Beyonce’s rabid fanbase known as the Beyhive.

“It’s really just allowing people to see themselves in the madness of Dre because we took real events and put a person in the middle of it,” she said, the Los Angeles Times reports.

“We did research for months to basically find events [between 2016 and 2018] that we could put our main character in,” she continued. “So it’s really not a work of fiction. We’ve taken real internet rumors, real murders and combined them in the narrative of our main character, Dre. Not much of it is fabricated.”

The creative team behind the series recreated several unforgettable Beyoncé moments for this series, including the infamous elevator encounter between Bey’s husband, rapper JAY-Z, and her younger sister Solange.

“Obviously all of these people are public figures and legally, you can’t use the real footage,” Nabers explained. “So we made the footage [ourselves] and they’re a lot of fun. We were able to re-create every single moment within that time span. When we sat down to look at that period in history, it really was about the feeling those moments gave you. Everyone remembers where they were when the elevator moment happened. It’s undeniable that there are moments with musicians that shift culture.”

“[Plus] the murders are reenactments,” she added. “Everything that you see throughout this show is something that has been researched and examined. And so I think we did a really good job at allowing our audience to live in these little American moments that actually have existed, but people just don’t know about.”

“Swarm” features guest stars Chlöe Bailey as Dre’s sister, Marissa, Damson Idris as Marissa’s boyfriend, Khalid, as well as Rickey Thompson, Paris Jackson, Rory Culkin, Kiersey Clemons, and Byron Bowers.

EUR’s Ny MaGee unpacked this psychological thriller with Dominique and Chloe in an exclusive 2-part video interview below, and Janine also shared with me the inspiration behind this new series.

“Swarm” premieres  March 17 on Prime Video.
