*Dr. Phil recently welcomed two race activists onto his show whose mission is to host dinners for white women to get them to “acknowledge their privilege”.

Saira Rao, who is Indian American, and Regina Jackson, who is Black, founded an organization called “Race 2 Dinner,” and authored the book “White Women: Everything You Already Know About Your Own Racism and How To Do Better.”  During the dinners, White women are lectured about race and have their ideas about racism challenged.

Since 2019, Jackson and Rao have been hosting $2,500 “Race to Dinner” events in big cities across the US, New York Post reports.

“If you did this in a conference room, they’d leave,” Rao tells the Guardian. “But wealthy white women have been taught never to leave the dinner table.”

Eight to ten white women attend the two-hour dinners, one of whom volunteers her home for the occasion, to cover the $2,500 price tag. Guests can also split the fee.

A woman named Ambrosia has been one guest. She was dubbed a “Karen” after going viral a few years ago for having a meltdown at a UPS store over the COVID-19 policy.  During her Dr. Phil show appearance, Ambrosia cried while recounting the incident. As far as Roa and Jackson are concerned, Ambrosia’s crying was a cynical tactic used primarily by White women to reframe the conversation.

Rao said their first Race2Dinner event played out like a “White woman Broadway musical, complete with crying, angry, eye rolls” she said before turning her attention to Ambrosia.

“So you commented on Ambrosia and essentially mocked her crying,” said Dr. Phil.

Jackson replied, “Yeah,” while Rao denied that was the case.

“I didn’t mock her, I just pointed out that she cried,” Rao said.

“No, actually, you didn’t. You actually kinda mocked her,” Dr. Phil noted.

“Well, Dr. Phil, the only rule we have at dinner is that you cannot cry at the table. And we all know why, because White women tears, it shifts the whole conversation from what you’re trying to engage in to ‘oh poor so-and-so, ain’t it awful, they made her feel bad,’” said Jackson.

Rao said, “We’re not here to put White women on defense. Our whole goal is to get White women to acknowledge their privilege so you can actually start deconstructing the ways that racially informed you.”

Ambrosia clapped back, “You’re shoveling stuff down people’s throat about how you want them to feel a certain way because you’re selling a book.”
