*Chet Hanks, son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, is currently stranded in Medellin, Colombia, after encountering a passport issue that prevents him from returning to the United States, Page Six reports. He shared the ordeal in an Instagram video, starting with, “Ya’ll ready for story time?”
Hanks recently traveled to Puerto Rico for “home Max’s birthday party,” and afterward, he made a detour to Medellin to visit a friend named Taylor. “Sounds good, right?” he told followers.
Trouble arose because he was using his Greek passport; his American passport is close to expiring. “I’m traveling with my Greek passport because I’m a dual citizen… Sometimes they don’t let you in the country, even if it hasn’t expired, but it’s about to expire,” Chet explained. At check-in, airline staff told him that U.S. citizens using a foreign passport must have a green card to return home.

As an American citizen, Chet does not have a green card. “I’m literally stuck in Colombia. I’m stuck in Medellin,” he said, admitting, “I literally have no f–king idea what I’m gonna do.”
The actor also noted that the only U.S. embassy able to help is in Bogota, roughly an hour away by air. “I don’t want to go to Bogota,” he said, adding a plea for help: “So free me.”
Check out what he had to say about his dilemma in the clip below.
