*Daniel Leonard, the 25-year-old son of boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard, was arrested Wednesday (05-20-26) morning at a West Los Angeles residence after allegedly violating a restraining order by showing up at the property, TMZ reports.
“The suspect was on the property, violating his restraining order, which prompted a call to 911 from someone on the property,” an LAPD spokesperson confirmed. Police did not release any further information about the circumstances of the arrest
Daniel had reportedly been trying to gain entry to the home, with TMZ noting he was caught trying the exterior door handles before police showed up. Officers who responded to the scene connected with security on the property and found Daniel near the pool house, where he was taken into custody.
Daniel Leonard was booked on a misdemeanor charge of violating a protective order and held on $20,000 bail.

The identity of the protected person has not been disclosed, though court records indicate the restraining order was filed earlier this year following allegations of harassment and unwanted contact. Leonard, who has maintained a low public profile compared to his Hall of Fame father, was released later Wednesday after posting bond.
A brief hearing is scheduled for next month. Sugar Ray Leonard, the former world champion in five weight divisions, has not publicly commented on the arrest. Daniel has no prior criminal record in Los Angeles County, though sources close to the family describe ongoing personal struggles away from the spotlight of his father’s legendary boxing career.
Sugar Ray Leonard filed a restraining order request against his son on the same day Daniel was taken into custody, though it has not been established whether that filing was directly connected to the arrest. The matter is scheduled to be heard in court on June 15.
Sugar Ray Leonard has four children, sons Ray Charles Jr., Jarrel, and Daniel, and daughter Camille, along with a grandson named Devin Leonard. Daniel is the youngest of his three sons.
