*Simon Guobadia, estranged spouse of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams, has been released from ICE detention and deported to his home country, Nigeria
According to Us Weekly, the 61-year-old businessman recently boarded a flight back home, as confirmed by his friend and business partner, Tai Savet. A selfie taken by Guobadia on Monday, June 9, further verifies his current location. Savet noted that Guobadia remains in “good spirits” following his experience at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
Guobadia’s detention began in February as part of mass deportation efforts, stemming from his history of visa overstays. He arrived in the U.S. in 1982, left, and returned, overstaying again. WSB-TV revealed he was deported in 1992 but regained permanent residency that year using an “undisclosed identity.” His attempts to secure citizenship have consistently failed.
The timing of his release coincides with ongoing divorce proceedings with Williams, 43, who filed for divorce in February 2024 after 15 months of marriage. The couple has clashed over the marital home, with a judge granting Williams exclusive use until a final ruling. A divorce hearing, originally delayed due to Guobadia’s detention, is now set for June 11.
His lawyer argued, “The motion to enforce the Prenuptial Agreement is a substantive motion that requires findings of fact by this Court. The outcome of the motion will also have a substantial effect on how the remainder of the divorce case proceeds, as it may be dispositive of some issues and result in litigation on others.”

Williams submitted a request to the court for approval to participate in the hearing remotely. She cited her career demands, with her attorney stating, “[Williams] is a well-known reality television personality, a career in which last-minute travel and unexpected opportunities frequently arise.”
The judge has not yet decided on her request.
In the meantime, Guobadia and his team have launched a new venture selling shirts to support those in ICE custody.
