*Savannah James says a scheduled luxury shopping trip in Italy took an unexpected turn when she and friend April McDaniel were initially refused service at Hermès.
James, 39, and McDaniel discussed the encounter during the Aug. 7 episode of Danielle Robay’s “Question Everything” podcast, PEOPLE reports. McDaniel said she arranged appointments at Hermès while the friends traveled through Europe. At the Italian location, however, the women said a saleswoman would not accommodate them despite their reservation.
“We had an appointment, and they tried to act like it was…” Savannah said before McDaniel interjected, claiming, “They treated us like s–t. They closed down that whole motherf—–g store.”
McDaniel said she immediately challenged the employee’s response.

“I said baby, you caught the wrong one today,” she recalled, explaining that James typically takes a calmer approach. McDaniel also claimed the saleswoman was ultimately fired following the confrontation.
The women said they were eventually welcomed into a private shopping area, where they received champagne and caviar while viewing merchandise.
“We was in the private room with champagne and caviar,” McDaniel said. “I said, ‘ How many bags you got? Ten?”
“They brought out everything,” James added.
McDaniel said these encounters don’t make her avoid luxury retailers—she simply takes her complaints straight to management.
“I’m calling the boss,” she said. “We’re closing the store down. She can go like that. I’m closing it down. You’re fired. That’s the last person… I’m heated, I’m ruining the whole situation.”
