*Remy Ma is taking center stage in Lifetime’s June movie lineup with the premiere of “Don’t Trust the Girls Upstairs,” a new psychological thriller set to debut June 20. The film is one of two newly announced originals joining the network’s growing slate of suspense-driven movies this month.
Based on the novel “My Sister’s Daughter” by Liv Constantine, the story follows Ashley Preston, played by Remy Ma, whose life is thrown into turmoil following the death of her estranged sister. After Ashley and her husband Elliot, portrayed by Garfield Wilson, welcome her orphaned teenage niece Serena into their home, a series of unsettling incidents begins to unfold, per the news release.
As tensions rise within the household, Ashley struggles to determine where the danger is coming from. Questions emerge about Serena’s behavior as she copes with grief, while suspicion also falls on Ashley’s daughter Luna, played by Sasha Rojen. The mystery deepens as Ashley searches for answers before the situation turns deadly. The film also stars Aliyah Marc as Serena and is directed by David Weaver from a screenplay by Crystal Verge.
“Working with Lifetime again has been an incredible experience,” said Remy Ma. “Ashley is a woman who would do anything to protect her family, but everybody in that house is hiding something. She’s carrying grief, trauma, and pain she’s never fully dealt with, and that made this role feel very real to me. This role challenged me emotionally in ways I didn’t expect.”

“Don’t Trust the Girls Upstairs” arrives at a milestone moment for Remy Ma, who is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album “There’s Something About Remy.” The film adds anothersignificant acting credit for the two-time Grammy-nominated and two-time BET Award-winning artist, who continues to expand her presence across television and film.
Lifetime has a packed June lineup alongside the premiere, with “Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery” starring Erica Campbell debuting June 6, followed by faith-based thriller “The Jealous Bride” starring Amber Stevens West on June 13, and Tia Mowry leading “Single Black Tenant” on June 27.
