*Newly obtained body camera video is offering a clearer picture of what unfolded during a tense mid-flight conflict involving reality star Porsha Williams. Officers boarded the aircraft once it reached the gate at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where passengers recounted what they saw.
According to Williams, the issue began when a nearby traveler expressed frustration over the sound coming from her phone. The woman allegedly asked, “So you gonna make me listen to that the whole flight?” prompting Williams to reply, “Do you want to?” and note that the request could have been phrased more politely. Williams told police the exchange escalated after the passenger hurled a derogatory word at her.
Passengers who spoke with officers supported Williams’ version of events, saying she did not initiate the conflict. They reported that the other woman struck Williams, and the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star showed authorities photos that depicted the passenger being restrained by others. She also told police the woman dropped her phone during the argument and then accused her of causing it.
The woman accusing Williams, however, presented a vastly different scenario once officers questioned her. She insisted that Williams’ behavior made her fear for her safety. She said she had only asked Williams to lower the volume on her phone, claimed Williams waved her hands in her face and called her “crazy,” and alleged that when she tried to record the moment, Williams struck her.
Williams had been traveling through Las Vegas on Nov. 16 when the encounter resulted in law enforcement escorting her off the Delta flight. Her attorney, Joe Habachy, told PEOPLE that the situation was triggered by a verbal attack, saying, “She was verbally assaulted by an irate and unhinged passenger without provocation,” and stated the woman made statements that conflicted with what witnesses reported.
“As with any incident occurring aboard an aircraft, federal authorities are required to conduct an investigation involving all parties to determine what, if any, offenses occurred,” he added.
The FBI’s Atlanta office confirmed to TMZ that agents are reviewing whether federal charges may be applicable. Habachy emphasized that Williams is “cooperating with law enforcement to whatever extent necessary, and remains confident that the passenger will be charged.”
