*A chilling teaser for “The Carpenter’s Son,” a horror film reimagining the childhood of Jesus, has been released, featuring Nicolas Cage as the Carpenter, FKA Twigs as the Mother, and Noah Jupe as the Boy.
Set in Roman Egypt, the story follows a family in hiding, confronted by supernatural and earthly threats. The official synopsis states, “The Carpenter’s Son tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt. The son, known only as ‘the Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine.”
The brief teaser shows Cage’s Carpenter observing his son, whose encounter with another child sparks doubt, leading to the unleashing of his extraordinary powers and terrifying consequences. Magnolia Pictures, which acquired the film in May 2025, calls it “a genre-bending spectacle that defies expectations,” with a fall 2025 release planned.

Drawing loosely from the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, the film’s dark narrative explores the Boy’s rebellion and the family’s struggle against menacing forces.
