*MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is a prominent YouTuber known for his elaborate and costly stunts, challenges, and giveaways.
He has amassed a massive following on YouTube, making him one of the platform’s most influential and well-known creators with over 300 million subscribers. His empire faces a significant threat due to a recent scandal involving his transgender sidekick, Ava Kris Tyson, and allegations that Tyson engaged in “grooming” of a minor.
In a statement, MrBeast said he was “disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts” and that he had hired a third-party investigator to look into the claims against Tyson. In this statement, MrBeast said, “Over the last few days, I’ve become aware of the serious allegations of Ava Tyson’s behavior online and I am disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts.”
He continued, “During that time, I have been focused on hiring an independent third party to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure I have all the facts. That said, I’ve seen enough online and taken immediate action to remove Ava from the company, my channel, and any association with MrBeast. I do not condone or support any of the inappropriate actions. I will allow the independent investigators the necessary time to conduct a comprehensive investigation and will take any further actions based on their findings.”
A person claiming to have worked for MrBeast claims he was aware of the allegations against Tyson, who uses she/her pronouns.
Tyson faced criticism following a June YouTube video that scrutinized the influencer’s interactions with a social media user named LavaGS, which started when LavaGS was 13 and Tyson was 20. Their public exchanges online reportedly included references to nude images, sex, and child porn.
A Reddit user named “Dawson” claimed in a video that MrBeast had prior knowledge of the situation, Newsweek reports.
“My name is Dawson, I worked at MrBeast from February to May of this year, 2024,” the man said in the video. “Kris is the tip of the iceberg. And when [YouTuber] Jake the Viking says MrBeast knew, yeah, MrBeast knew.
“I heard many times that Ava Kris Tyson is a major liability, but they can’t get rid of her because she’s already threatened legal action and she knows too much. And when all this information comes out about everything that she knew, everything other people know, I promise you on everything MrBeast is done.”
LavaGS, now 20, addressed the grooming allegations in a post on X on Monday.
“These videos are massive lies and twisting the truth,” LavaGS said, per Newsweek. “Ava never did anything wrong and just made a few edgy jokes. I was never exploited or taken advantage of.”
He added, “Kris’ messages to me were sent in public discord servers/groups, but everyone is framing it as if it was 1 on 1.”

Tyson has denied the grooming allegations and separated from MrBeast amid the controversy.
“I would like to apologize for any of my past behavior or comments if it hurt or offended anyone. It was not my intent,” Tyson wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Seeing recent events we’ve mutually decided it’s best I permanently step away from all things MrBeast and social media to focus on my family and mental health.”
Meanwhile, popular gaming streamer Kai Cenat weighed in on the accusations, calling Tyson a “weirdo.”
“He’s weird bro, it’s fucked up it’s weird, how do you know the age of someone knowing your a grown ass man and still move forward, i don’t understand it,” he said in the X/Twitter clip below.
