*Michele Weaver and Nathan Owens star in OWN’s heartwarming new holiday film, “A Season to Remember,” and we caught up with the duo to dish about the deeper themes of family and tradition that resonate throughout the film.
Weaver stars as Symone Gibson, an ambitious “sports reporter who is good at her job, but often has to navigate being a woman in a male-dominated field,” the synopsis states. “She gets a crash course in how to be more assertive after teaming with freelance sports photographer Iggy Love (Owens), who knows a thing or two about going after what’s really important in life,” the description continues. “She has just a week before Christmas to find an attention-grabbing story that could take her career to the next level. With Iggy’s assistance, Symone chases down a story and finds romance, courage and a new sense of direction along the way.”
Weaver described Symone as “a woman who likes to have a good time, who’s smart, who wants to go after her dreams” and hopes her journey encourages viewers “to be themselves and be inspired to go after their dreams.”
“And also… I hope people are inspired to, if they haven’t found a partner, keep looking and keep working on themselves so that they can attract a partner who also works on themselves,” she continued. “I think personal growth is the key to success in your career and to a good relationship.”
Owens hopes viewers connect with the film’s themes of “vulnerability in situations of love.”

“I think all too often, especially in today’s age, it’s tough for people to open up and allow themselves to be vulnerable in a partner situation,” he added. “I think that there’s so many guards people hold up these days. I think that this film speaks to being able to set those aside and realize that… maybe I’m not always right, maybe there’s a lot of different things that we can overcome. I hope that this film brings that to the viewers.”
