*Cleveland-based bounty hunter turned rapper Bounty Tank is speaking out about his journey from nursing school to becoming a YouTube sensation.
Tank is known for his thrilling bounty-hunting adventures showcased on his hit web series, “Bounty Tank,” which has amassed over 782K subscribers and millions of views. As he gears up for the release of his latest album, “Kick Door University,” Bounty Tank shares insights into his evolution, his unique approach to bounty hunting, and his growing influence as a rapper.
His YouTube series has garnered millions of views since its debut in 2018, captivating audiences with its thrilling content.
“This season, I cut a lot of that out. It’s just straight action. So this season, you can expect a lot more action, a lot more attention-grabbing, less of me sitting in the car watching someone, less dialogue, just more to the point, more action,” Tank revealed.
In terms of production value, Tank said, “… we stepped up the quality of the video. So everything’s shot in 4K and above. We no longer use body cams. We have 4K GoPros. So basically, the visuals are top-tier now. We’ve stepped up. The audio is on point. Definitely stepped up the audio and definitely stepped up the visuals. Because of the 4K body cams, it’s able to cover different angles.”
Bounty Tank recently released the sixth season of the series, which you can watch here. He gained widespread popularity through bounty hunting, amassing over 1 million followers across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. He began rapping in 2019 and started releasing music in 2020. “I’ve always loved music. I was just kind of hesitant to do it because of what I do, and being accepted. You know, with hip hop, I have a badge on. I got a vest on. It’s going to be hard. They’re not going to accept it right away,” he said of hip-hop fans.
Tank shared that his YouTube series was the driving force behind his decision to start making music.
“What motivated me was having a show. I’m like, ‘Why don’t I just put my own music in my own show? Why am I paying people to put music in my own show?’ So that’s what kind of motivated me to do it. I just woke up one day and said… ‘I don’t care what no one’s going to say. I’m going to start doing this.’ And I did. I came up with my own theme song. I guess you could say I’m in the streets. I’m just on the opposite side. I base my music off what I have going on in my life. I’m in the streets, just on the opposite side. So I’m talking about kicking in doors, and I need my money, and setting people up, getting arrested. So it’s fun.”
Bounty Tank is a Hampton University graduate with a nursing degree and a former student-athlete. We asked him how he made the decision to become a bounty hunter and what led him to choose this unique career path.
“I was in school doing clinicals, and I was just like, ‘I want to do something where I can still be athletic. I don’t want to be clocking in and being in a building all day.’ So I looked up being a marshal, but at that time it was a hiring freeze in the government. This was years, years ago. I kept doing more research and bounty hunting popped up. It was kind of like being a marshal. I looked into it. I got licensed while I was in school, my senior year, and I just fell in love with it.”
He added, “I was blessed to find something I was good at, at a very early age. I just kind of stumbled upon it.”
Over a decade later, Bounty Tank has taken his career to new heights by merging his love for music with his streetwise persona. He has received shoutouts from both Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
