*Funnyman/actor/writer Marlon Wayans has responded to rapper Soulja Boy after the latter used a homophobic slur against Wayans’ transgender son, Kai.
The feud between the two public figures escalated after Soulja Boy targeted Kai in a series of derogatory posts on X/Twitter, prompting Wayans to defend his child and call out the rapper’s irrelevance.
The controversy began when Wayans criticized Soulja Boy for performing at the Crypto Ball in Washington, D.C., in honor of Donald Trump’s second inauguration. The event, which also featured a controversial appearance by Snoop Dogg, drew backlash from many, including Wayans. In response, Soulja Boy launched a series of attacks on Wayans, eventually turning his attention to Kai, who came out as transgender in November 2023. Wayans had publicly expressed his “unconditional love and acceptance” for his son at the time, making Soulja Boy’s comments even more personal and hurtful.
Wayans did not hold back in his response, firing back at Soulja Boy with a mix of humor and sharp criticism. On X/Twitter, he wrote:
“If @souljaboy had a career he could get canceled for this type of slander. Luckily he ain’t been relevant since 2007.” He also posted a topless photo of Soulja Boy, joking, “Hey @souljaboy My child had top surgery and still has more chest than you.” The actor then referenced his upcoming Scary Movie reboot, adding, “Say less… back to writing another classic SCARY 6 SUMMER 2026. And @souljaboy you can go back to… hmmm??? Irrelevancy?”

As of now, Soulja Boy has not responded to Wayans’ latest posts, leaving the feud one-sided for the time being. However, the incident has sparked conversations about the importance of supporting LGBTQ+ youth and the harm caused by homophobic and transphobic language.
This is not the first time Wayans has spoken out in defense of transgender individuals. In a previous interview with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Wayans criticized Elon Musk for his estranged relationship with his transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson. Wayans expressed his disapproval of Musk’s treatment of Vivian.
“I have a Tesla that I’m about to drive over a cliff. I don’t like what he be saying about his trans child. You don’t treat them babies like that. You don’t disown your babies.” He concluded by urging Musk to “love your child!”
Wayans’ unwavering support for his son and the transgender community has earned him praise from fans and advocates alike. His willingness to publicly stand up for Kai, even in the face of online attacks, highlights the importance of parental acceptance and the need to combat discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals.

In addition to his advocacy, Wayans has been busy with his career. In October 2023, he and his brothers, Keenan and Shawn, announced the reboot of the Scary Movie franchise, which originally launched in 2000 and became a cultural phenomenon.
The Wayans brothers, who exited the franchise after the second film, are set to return for the sixth installment, scheduled for release in 2026.
“Last week I said I had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again,” wrote Wayans, sharing the news on Instagram.
As Marlon Wayans continues to balance his career and advocacy, his response to Soulja Boy serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing up for loved ones and using one’s platform to promote acceptance and equality.
Whether he’s defending his son or bringing laughter to audiences with his iconic humor, Wayans remains a force to be reckoned with.
