*Grammy-winning singer and actress Kelly Rowland appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on January 30, reconnecting with longtime friend JHUD for a heartfelt conversation.
Rowland reflected on her childhood growing up in Tina Knowles’ salon, supporting Michelle Williams’ Broadway career, and embracing life as a mother of two boys—10-year-old Titan and 4-year-old Noah. The songstress shared that Titan has a deep love for basketball, admitting that she sometimes gets a bit too passionate while cheering him on during his games.
“I had to pull back from some of the games,” Rowland admitted when Hudson asked her if she loved going to the games, PEOPLE reports. “I’m the spirited mom.”
“My husband’s like, ‘You know, you should stay home this game. This team … I don’t know what’s going [to happen]’, and I’m like, ‘Word?’ ” she said. “It’s really great though because it’s teaching him sportsmanship.”
Rowland and husband Tim Weatherspoon got married in 2014, after knowing each other for over a decade. The singer gushed about motherhood on the cover of Kindred By PARENTS digital issue in October 2023.
“I just want to get this right. I want to really be a part of bringing some really amazing young men forth into the world. That was my only prayer,” she told the outlet. “I don’t know why I’m emotional, but my only prayer was to have really great young Black men in this world who were sure of themselves and didn’t have to be told who they were.”
The superstar also highlighted the importance of celebrating her two sons’ interests.
“If we’re gonna grow our kids, like, let’s be lost in their interests and the things that bring them joy. Let’s have joy with them about it,” Rowland said.
“I’ll sit out here and watch him do basketball or do whatever it is that he loves so much because I want him to know that I see it. It’s wonderful,” she continued. “It’s worth celebrating. You’re worth celebrating. Your try is worth celebrating. I love all that is you.”
Elsewhere in her conversation with Jennifer Hudson, Kelly also discussed working with the late Liam Payne on an upcoming music competition show and her efforts to help those affected by recent wildfires in Los Angeles. Watch the segment below.
