*Navigating romance as a celebrity presents significant obstacles, according to R&B artist Kehlani.
As Complex reports, during her December 11 appearance on “Unapologetically Angel,” Angel Reese’s podcast, the vocalist candidly addressed why maintaining relationships proves particularly challenging given her celebrity status.
Balancing her professional commitments with parenting her six-year-old daughter, Adeya leaves little room for romantic pursuits, Kehlani revealed. “When I’m not doing my art, I’m also trying to spend as much time with my child as I can. So there’s that balance of where does a relationship sit and fit in between all of these?” she explained. Kehlani elaborated further, saying, “I’m in the height of my career. I’m also trying to rock out with my kid who’s in first grade and is learning all these cool first grade things and forming core memories and holiday memories.”
Kehlani described how it’s “anxiety-inducing” to go out while strangers record her every move. “And then you say something…And then you wake up the next day – ‘Story time. I met Kehlani at a restaurant and she was a bitch and she was rude and I hate her.’ And I’m like, the whole time you were just invading my [space]. It ruined the date, it ruined the vibes,” she stated.

The singer questioned whether accepting such circumstances is worthwhile. “So you get to this point where, do you want to live in anxiety and fear where it feels like complete strangers run your life and have that much control, or do you just want to be a regular girl who wants to hold hands with somebody leaving the movie theater and who wants to go and eat sushi at a restaurant?”
Kehlani, who came out as lesbian in 2021, has previously been romantically connected to PARTYNEXTDOOR, Kyrie Irving, and YG. During a recent visit to “The Breakfast Club,” she disclosed that communication with Javaughn Young-White, Adeya’s father, has ceased following his custody filing.
As we reported… Young-White alleges in his petition that Kehlani’s involvement in a “sex cult” threatens their child’s safety. His court documents claim this organization dictates Kehlani’s decisions, “including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter.”
Kehlani firmly rejected these accusations in a statement. “What has been published in the media over the past 24 hours is incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and simply untrue. I wanted to take time to ensure that I responded to these accusations from a calm and considered space rather than a reactive one. I strongly deny any claims I have put my child in harm’s way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe,” she said in 2024.
She added, “I do not align with any of the allegations made against my former religious community that have been stated in the media.” Concluding her response, she wrote, “This is a legal, private, familial matter that will be handled accordingly, and I will now be taking space for my own personal well-being, and most importantly, for the well-being of my child.”
