*The Guitar Center Music Foundation will host its fourth annual Gala and Benefit Concert on September 11 at The Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, where legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will be celebrated with the Vanguard Award.
Since the 1980s, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have achieved widespread commercial success, particularly through their long-standing collaboration with Janet Jackson. The prolific songwriting and production duo has penned 31 top ten hits in the UK and 41 in the US. In recognition of their influential contributions to music, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 under the Musical Excellence category. Their recognition by the Guitar Center Music Foundation highlights their significant contributions to music education, a core mission of the foundation
As Billboard reports, joining them in the spotlight is sound mixer John McBride, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. McBride, the founder of Blackbird Studio near Nashville since 2002 and The Blackbird Academy since 2013, is a key figure in music production and education. The gala will also pay tribute to Los Angeles firefighters and first responders for their efforts in combating recent wildfires.
Funds raised during the upcoming gala will support the Guitar Center Music Foundation’s Disaster Relief Program, which helps musicians affected by the wildfires replace lost instruments and access essential resources. This initiative underscores the foundation’s commitment to supporting the music community in times of crisis.
Earlier this year, Guitar Center launched a special initiative to support musicians and music education programs affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. Through its Guitar Center Music Foundation, the retailer offered one-time grants to replace lost or damaged instruments and gear. The program was available exclusively to Los Angeles-based applicants and ran through February 28, 2025.

The fourth annual gala is organized by the Guitar Center Music Foundation’s board of directors, with production support from Angelia Shepperd of ABS Collective and technical production by Nick Urbom of Big Push Media Group.
Tickets for the event start at $500 and can be purchased through the foundation’s website, where additional details about the organization’s mission are available. The evening promises to be a powerful celebration of music, resilience, and community support.
