*Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has a stern warning for angry bettors who cross the line with their online harassment.
On the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Brown revealed the vile messages he occasionally sees when scrolling through comments.
“If I do happen to scroll, the comments be like, ‘f–k you, n—-r,’ da, da, da, da, da, ‘see, If I see you in the street,'” he said, before issuing a direct challenge: “I’m going to say this to the camera: If one of you parlay motherf–kers runs up on me, I’m going to f–k you up. I’m telling you. Try it if you want to, that’s all I’m going to say.”
Brown’s frustration highlights how legalized sports betting in the age of social media allows fans to vent their betting losses at players.
As the New York Post reports, the NBA has faced betting-related controversies, including a lifetime ban for former player Jontay Porter for manipulating his prop bets, and an investigation into Terry Rozier that ultimately cleared him of wrongdoing.

Other athletes have faced similar abuse. Former North Carolina standout Armando Bacot shared his experience last March.
“It’s terrible… I looked at my DMs, and I got, like, over 100 messages from people telling me I sucked and stuff like that because I didn’t get enough rebounds.”
Bacot acknowledged the fans’ perspective—”… if you bet a lot of money on something, and you’re, like, one pick away and somebody messes it up, I understand the part of fans being mad. But it’s annoying, too, at times.”
The accessibility of players online has fueled these interactions, with even Kevin Durant sparring with a disgruntled fan on X earlier this year.
