*NFL quarterback Geno Smith is facing allegations of abuse after his ex-girlfriend shared a series of social media posts accusing him of physical violence and neglect involving his special needs child.
The woman, identified as Kristen, shared multiple Instagram posts from the account @everythingkrisxo. One clip appeared to show Smith on a phone call as she confronted him about his conduct, Complex reports. Text placed over the video reads, “Today is the DAY! Geno Smith beat my ass cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid.”
Kristen also claimed, “[He] can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch sex online and play Call of Duty.”
A separate post accused Smith of violence and theft. “Throwing my purses out and stealing my money out my car with his high deranged ass.” An Instagram Stories video showed police officers, along with the caption “Charges pressed.”
She also added, “Been supportive of this DEMON and his narcissistic personality disorder ALL MY DAMN LIFE!!!!!!”
The incident took place in Smith’s hometown of Davie, Florida. Police confirmed that officers responded to Smith’s residence on Sunday, June 21, but they did not arrest him or take him into custody. Authorities are investigating the alleged assault, though TMZ reports that prosecutors have not filed formal charges.
Kristen may be the woman who contacted emergency dispatchers and accused Smith of assaulting her at his residence. She told authorities that home surveillance cameras captured the alleged confrontation, although she believed he may have erased the footage.
“There’s video cameras all throughout the house, all outside in the front where he attacked me,” she said, adding, “He probably deleted all the footage off the camera.”
A police spokesperson issued an update Tuesday, “We were informed [Monday] evening that, during review, it was determined that this case is being further investigated by detectives. It is active and we cannot release any additional information at this time.”
