*Singer FKA Twigs has opened up about having six fibroid tumors removed from her uterus back in December, Page Six reports.
“I am a very private person as u all know and I have gone back and forth in my mind whether to share that this year I have been recovering from laparoscopic surgery to remove 6 fibroid tumors from my uterus,” the 30-year-old revealed in an Instagram post on Wednesday, adding that two of the tumors were the size of “cooking apples,” three the size of kiwis and one the size of a strawberry.
A nurse told her that with the weight and size of her tumors, it was like Twigs was six months pregnant.

Dr. Taraneh Shirazian, a gynecologic surgeon at NYU Langone Health told Page Six that fibroid tumors are benign tumors in the myometrium or muscle layer of the uterus.
Symptoms can range from “completely asymptomatic to heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, pelvic pressure, urinary frequency, sometimes even constipation and rectal pressure” — depending on the number and location.
According to the report, Dr. Shirazian, who has not treated Twigs, said her situation is “pretty common,” and that an apple-sized fibroid would be moderately sized at about five to six centimeters while a strawberry-sized fibroid would be around two centimeters.
“But once they’re all together it’s increasing the total size of your uterus, so the symptoms that you’re feeling are that bulk pressure because now, instead of having a small uterus the size of your fist, imagine your fist, plus two apples and three strawberries and everything else,” the doctor said, adding that she’s seen women who have uteri that appear to be nine months pregnant.
Fibroid tumors are typically not fatal, and Laparoscopic surgery, which Twigs got, has really good recovery rates.
“I tried to be brave but it was excruciating at times and to be honest I started to doubt if my body would ever feel the same again,” Twigs wrote alongside a video of herself dancing on a pole. “I was so scared, despite lots of love from friends and family I felt really alone and my confidence as a woman was knocked. but… today whilst dancing with Kelly at the choreography house I felt like my strong self again for the first time in a while and it was magical.”
