*Health complications, not a desire for a cosmetic upgrade, pushed Drew Sidora toward surgery, and she came prepared to say so when her “Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-stars came with questions on the June 5 episode.
As BravoTV reports, Kenya Moore had already been talking about it before Drew entered the room. While chatting with Sanya Richards-Ross about Drew’s fitness venture “Drop it with Drew,” Kenya challenged the logic of promoting weight loss while having had surgical intervention. “How are you going to help people lose weight if you had a surgeon cut your stomach off?” she asked.
Drew addressed the criticism head-on once the group put the issue directly to her. Years of health battles, she said, ultimately drove the decision. “I had a lot of health struggles, a lot of diagnoses. Yes, I did have a mommy makeover, but it was because I had to. I had so many things going on,” she explained.
Drew also pointed to a hernia that no workout routine could correct. “I had a hernia, so I lost weight, but my stomach was protruding,” she said. “You know, when you have a hernia, no matter how hard you work out… I had adenomyosis.”
The reality star had gone public with more details back in April, telling Us Weekly that a myosis diagnosis, a form of endometriosis, had kept her on pain medication for years due to debilitating cramps. Scheduling the medically required surgery created an opening she decided to take.
“Once I went and had that surgery, I was like, well, can we just put everything back where it should be?” she recalled. “Let’s do it while I’m down. Let me just also do something that’s gonna make me happy. And that’s what I did.”
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo, with episodes available to stream the following day on Peacock.
