*Doechii is speaking out after a moment from the 2025 Met Gala sparked online debate. The rapper, who made her highly anticipated debut at fashion’s biggest night, addressed criticism after a behind-the-scenes video showed her making urgent demands for more umbrellas to conceal her outfit from cameras.
In the clip, Doechii is heard firmly instructing her team: “I’m ready … no, stop, give me another umbrella, now,” followed by, “And another one. Who has an umbrella? I need four f****** umbrellas. Because they’re gonna try to stick their f****** cameras in here.” She can also be heard shouting for the umbrellas to be held steady.
The footage quickly made the rounds on social media, with some accusing the artist of mistreating her team. Others, however, defended her, arguing the reaction was overblown. “I finally saw the video… Had me thinking that lady was screaming in people’s faces and name calling. She literally just raised her voice and made some stern demands,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The Grammy winner hit up Instagram to reflect on the moment: “This year was our debut… Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme. And a time was had,” she shared.
Wearing Louis Vuitton, designed by Pharrell, Doechii said her Met Gala look was inspired by Monica Miller’s work and historical figure Julius Soubise. “We studied a little bit on this character… and I felt very inspired by him tonight,” she told Vogue.
