*Federal courthouses across New York shut their doors for Memorial Day, but 55-year-old hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs remained locked inside Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), where he has been held since his September 2024 arrest on sex-trafficking charges.
Combs is housed in the 4 North dormitory, a communal unit he shares with roughly 20 other men. Holiday or not, the jail keeps inmates busy; an MDC executive assistant told People magazine that Monday’s recreation list features “Spades card games, dominoes, 3-on-3 basketball tournament and soccer tournament.”
Breakfast followed the standard rotation of fruit, cereal, skim milk, and a pastry. Lunch included barbecue chicken, kidney beans, macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables, whole-wheat bread, fruit, a holiday dessert, and a drink. Dinner choices shift back to routine staples such as chicken or tofu with rice, pinto beans, and canned corn.
The brief lull in courtroom action comes two weeks into Combs’ highly publicized trial in Manhattan federal court. Prosecutors say the Bad Boy Records founder ran a clandestine sex-trafficking ring masked by celebrity and business success. Combs faces five felony counts: racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, sex trafficking through fraud or coercion, transportation with intent to engage in prostitution, and conspiracy to commit those acts. A conviction could lead to life behind bars, yet the bigger immediate threat may be financial, USA Today reports.
The indictment’s forfeiture notice seeks virtually every asset tied to what prosecutors call the “Combs Business,” a web that includes spirits brands, fashion labels, Bad Boy Records, and a cable channel.

Since testimony opened on May 12, jurors have heard from former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, rapper Kid Cudi, and ex-Danity Kane member Dawn Richard. Combs has entered a not-guilty plea and insists he is the target of opportunists. “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday… I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth,” he wrote on Instagram last year.
Court proceedings are scheduled to resume on Tuesday.
