*Diarra Brickland is back, and Detroit’s criminal underbelly does not stand a chance. Paramount+ has announced that season two of “Diarra From Detroit” will premiere Wednesday, July 29, with two back-to-back episodes. The eight-episode season will then roll out weekly every Wednesday through September 9.
Creator, writer, and star Diarra Kilpatrick returns as the city’s most reluctant detective. This time, what begins as a simple furniture recovery mission spirals into a triple homicide investigation, a citywide treasure hunt, and a deep dive into Detroit’s most dangerous corners, per the press release. Along the way, Diarra goes undercover with a secret society, stars in a Tubi movie, chases urban legends, dodges gang warfare, and uncovers secrets buried beneath the city itself.
Kilpatrick leads the cast alongside returning series regulars DomiNque Perry, Bryan Terrell Clark, Jon Chaffin, Shannon Wallace, Phylicia Rashad, and Harry Lennix. Season two also brings an impressive roster of guest stars, including Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Morris Chestnut, Glynn Turman, Bokeem Woodbine, Amber Riley, Lil Rel Howery, Lovie Simone, Shoniqua Shandai, Nicco Annan, Skilla Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Chris “CP” Powell, and Jude Demorest.

Kilpatrick executive produces alongside Kenya Barris and Miles Orion Feldsott, who also serves as showrunner. BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society produce the series.
Season one made a serious impression when it debuted, landing on the Top 10 Shows of the Year lists from Deadline, Rolling Stone, and The Hollywood Reporter. Rolling Stone described the series as “a murder mystery, a romance, a comedy and a star-making showcase,” and Variety called it “a hilariously chaotic P.I. drama with flair.” The show also earned NAACP Image Awards and Independent Spirit Awards nominations, while Kilpatrick took home a Gracie Award for Actress in a Breakthrough Role in Drama.
Season one is currently streaming on Paramount+.
