*In a recent episode of his Talk With Flee podcast, rapper Cam’ron shared a surprising piece of personal history: his family owns Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles, the iconic West Coast soul food chain.
The Harlem native dropped the bombshell during his April 6 show, saying, “My family owns Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. I never really bring it up, ’cause I just didn’t think it was necessary. But yeah, that’s us.”
As Vibe reports, Cam recognized the restaurant as a staple of California culture, noting, “I know everybody in California be like, ‘Yo, that’s our sh*t.’ Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles is absolutely a California thing. But if y’all didn’t know, some Harlem ni**as own it—my family.”
Founded in 1975 by Herb Hudson, a Harlem native and Cam’ron’s uncle, the chain has grown into a Los Angeles staple with seven locations, celebrated by outlets like The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times.

In a 2023 social media post, Cam’ron shared a photo of his uncle Herb and another relative, Warren, writing, “Fun fact: would you believe me if I told you that the owner/founder of Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles was from Harlem? And that he’s my uncle?! Nah I wouldn’t believe me either.”
Roscoe’s has long been a pop culture fixture–mentioned in films like “Rush Hour,” Swingers,” and “Jackie Brown,” and earning shoutouts from Ludacris, Will Smith, and Snoop Dogg, who once brought Larry King and David Beckham to dine there.
