*Marvel Studios has released the first teaser for “Avengers: Doomsday” after it premiered in theaters last Thursday alongside “Avatar: Fire and Ash” showings. The footage shows Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers/Captain America, with an unexpected development: the character has a new baby.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, whose previous Marvel work includes “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame,” posted a message on Instagram. They described Captain America as “The character that changed our lives” and “The story that brought us all here together,” concluding with “It was always going to come back to this…”

The project comes from Marvel Studios and AGBO, with distribution through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Helmed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, it represents the fifth Avengers film and the 39th Marvel Cinematic Universe entry. The cast features Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans, alongside numerous others.
Taking place fourteen months following “Thunderbolts” (2025), the narrative brings together the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and original X-Men against Doctor Doom. “Avengers: Doomsday” opens in theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by its continuation, “Secret Wars,” on December 17, 2027.
The studio is implementing a staggered marketing approach for “Doomsday,” and more character-specific teasers are anticipated in the upcoming weeks.
