*In a heartfelt conversation on “IRL with Angie Martinez,” Angela Simmons opened up about the end of her romance with rapper Yo Gotti, shedding light on the emotional toll of their split.
The “Growing Up Hip Hop” star, known for guarding her private life, made an exception for Gotti, whose public admiration for her culminated in a widely followed relationship.
“He kind of manifested it,” Simmons said, acknowledging Gotti’s years-long crush that blossomed into a romance marked by extravagant vacations. However, the relationship has now ended. When pressed about their status, Simmons was candid: “No, I’m not with him. No… not my choice. But, you know, I respect him. It’s all love.”
While she didn’t disclose specific reasons for the breakup, Simmons admitted her deep emotional investment. “My feelings were involved,” she shared. “When I’m in love, I’m in love… which means like, I’m staying with you. So yeah, it didn’t feel good to not be with him.”

In 2023, Simmons confirmed she was boo’d up with Yo Gotti, and their relationship came about 8 years after he revealed his crush on her in the hit song “Down in the DM.”
At the time, the duo confirmed their relationship on social media by sharing intimate images of themselves from an elegant photoshoot.
“You are all I need and more ❤️,” Simmons captioned the post (see below). As PEOPLE reported, on her Instagram Stories, she wrote “Happier than ever” on a black background.
In his own post, Yo Gotti shared a video of Simmons dressed to the nines and captioned it, “Ain loss a crush since High School.”
Yo Gotti also shared photos from his photoshoot with the reality TV star, which he captioned, “Happy New Year 2023 #CMG????????.”
Simmons has been romantically linked to Romeo Miller and Sutton Tennyson, who was fatally shot in 2018.
