*Apple TV has released the official trailer for the second season of its neo-noir drama “Sugar,” bringing Colin Farrell back to the screen as both star and executive producer. The series continues its modern interpretation of the private detective genre, blending classic mystery elements with a stylized contemporary setting.
The upcoming season is scheduled to premiere on June 19 on Apple TV. Viewers will receive the first episode on launch day, followed by weekly installments every Friday, with the eight-episode run concluding on August 7.
At the center of the story is John Sugar, a Los Angeles-based private investigator with a deep appreciation for cinema, played by Farrell. Season 2 sees him still searching for his missing sister while simultaneously taking on a new missing persons case involving a local boxing prospect’s older brother. What begins as a focused investigation gradually unfolds into a broader conspiracy that spreads across the city, per the synopsis. As the mystery escalates, Sugar is forced into increasingly difficult personal and ethical decisions, with the investigation pushing him to examine the limits of his own principles and determination.

The new season also expands its ensemble cast, adding Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, Sasha Calle, and guest star Shea Whigham. Watch the new trailer above.
Sam Catlin serves as showrunner and executive producer under Short Drive Entertainment. Executive producing duties are also shared by Audrey Chon, Simon Kinberg, Colin Farrell, Scott Greenberg, and Chip Vucelich. The series was created by Mark Protosevich.
The first season of “Sugar” remains available worldwide on Apple TV and earned praise for a notable narrative twist that helped define its early success.
