*Former Tallahassee Mayor and 2018 Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum is back in an Alabama jail after a judge revoked his bond following a failed drug test, according to court documents obtained by WCTV.
Baldwin County jail records show Gillum was booked Aug. 6.
Court documents show Gillum missed a drug screening before his court appearance Thursday. He was tested in court and tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the station.
The judge subsequently revoked Gillum’s bond.
The development comes nearly a month after Gillum was arrested in Daphne, Alabama, on drug charges following a traffic stop.

July Traffic Stop Led To Gillum’s Arrest
Gillum’s current legal troubles began July 2 when Daphne police stopped him for erratic driving.
Officers reportedly found a glass pipe, rolled marijuana cigarettes and three packages containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
Gillum was arrested and booked into the Baldwin County Jail.
The jail roster showed he was released July 3.
His release lasted approximately a month before the failed drug test resulted in his bond being revoked and his return to custody.
The underlying drug charges stemming from the July traffic stop remain separate from the bond revocation.
Gillum Previously Faced Federal Charges
The Alabama case follows a separate federal prosecution involving Gillum that ended without a conviction.
In 2022, Gillum was indicted on multiple federal charges connected to alleged campaign contribution fraud before and during his 2018 campaign for Florida governor.
The case went to trial in 2023.
A jury found Gillum not guilty of lying to the FBI but deadlocked on the remaining charges. The other 18 charges against him were ultimately dropped.
Those federal proceedings are unrelated to Gillum’s current legal problems in Alabama.
Gillum Nearly Became Florida Governor
Before his legal troubles, Gillum was one of Florida’s most prominent Democratic politicians.
He served as mayor of Tallahassee from 2014 until 2018 and became the Democratic nominee for governor that year, facing Republican Ron DeSantis in the general election.
The race was extremely close.
Gillum received 49.2% of the vote compared with DeSantis’ 49.6%, according to WCTV.
Now, the former mayor is back in the Baldwin County Jail following the latest development in the Alabama drug case.
Court records show his bond was revoked after he missed a drug screening and subsequently tested positive for methamphetamine in court.
The underlying case has not been resolved.
