Al B. Sure! Set to Release Memoir ‘Do You Believe Me Now?’
R&B singer Al B. Sure! is preparing to share his life story in a new memoir titled “Do You Believe Me Now?,” set for release on September 9, 2025, through Simon & Schuster. The memoir promises a deep dive into the artist’s career, personal struggles, and headline-making connections, including his relationship with music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Sure! — born Albert Joseph Brown III — rose to fame in the late 1980s with his hit debut album In Effect Mode, featuring chart-toppers like “Nite and Day” and “Off on Your Own (Girl).” Over the years, he’s worked with iconic artists such as Quincy Jones, Diana Ross, Usher, Jodeci, and even David Bowie.

Inside the Memoir: Medical Crisis and Family Ties
According to a press release, Do You Believe Me Now? will cover Sure!’s near-death experience in 2023 when a medical crisis left him in a coma. The memoir will also explore his relationship with the late model Kim Porter, with whom he shares a son, Quincy Brown. Porter, who died from lobar pneumonia in 2018, later entered a relationship with Diddy, who adopted Quincy.
Sure!’s memoir is expected to offer a revealing look at his “shocking” ties to Combs, stretching back to their early days at Uptown Records, where Combs began as an intern. The book’s release comes at a time when the two figures have been publicly entangled in controversy, according to Rolling Stone.
Recent Drama: Diddy Lawsuit and Documentary Fallout
Earlier in 2025, Sure! appeared in the Peacock documentary “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy,” which sparked significant backlash. Sean “Diddy” Combs filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit following the documentary, accusing Sure! and attorney Ariel Mitchell of spreading conspiracy theories about Porter’s death and others close to Combs.

Combs’ legal team claimed the documentary promoted an “unhinged narrative that Mr. Combs is a serial killer,” despite lacking credible evidence. Reps for Combs have not yet commented on the upcoming memoir, but it’s clear that Do You Believe Me Now? is already generating buzz ahead of its release.
Why Al B. Sure!’s Memoir Matters Now
With decades of experience in the music industry and a personal history intertwined with some of its most famous names, Al B. Sure! is uniquely positioned to offer insights few others can. His fans are eager to hear firsthand accounts of his rise to fame, his struggles, and his perspective on the controversies surrounding him and Diddy.
As the countdown to September 9 begins, “Do You Believe Me Now?” promises to be a must-read for music lovers and anyone following the unfolding drama between these two R&B legends.
