*Conservative commentators celebrated the cancellation of Joy Reid’s show The ReidOut, while liberals criticized the network’s decision, calling for a boycott of MSNBC.
Critics highlighted viral moments from Reid’s tenure, including her sharp criticisms of Trump and his supporters. One notable 2024 clip featured a tense exchange with Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice, who advocated for removing sexually explicit books from school libraries. During the interview, Reid defended minors’ access to All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson, a young-adult memoir that includes discussions of sexual experiences (including strap-on dildos and incestual pedophilia) Reid questioned Justice’s “expertise” to oppose children reading material with explicit content.
“What a tragic story of a young man who is anally raped by an adult family member,” Justice told Reid, referencing the book. She also noted that stories about “incest, rape, and pedophilia” should not be available in school libraries.
“In what context is a strap-on dildo or the rape of a minor child by a teacher acceptable for public school?” Justice asked. Reid clapped back and asked Justice why she and other conservative activists “get to decide what books tens of thousands of children get to read?”
Joy Reid questions Tiffany Justice, the co-founder of Moms for Liberty , what expertise does she have to decide what books aren’t appropriate to be in Schools?

It was undoubtedly a diabolical and perverse stance on Joy’s part (advocating for minors to have access to pornographic material). In case you missed it, watch the segment via the YouTube clip above.
This is one of many reasons why critics believe Reid’s exit from the global stage was long overdue. On X, one person noted that Joy was essentially tasked with pushing “degenerate ideology onto Black Americans as a way to try to sabotage us.”
Another X user wrote in response to Joy’s interview with Justice, “The Democrats have been masterful in pushing Black women to the front of degeneracy and like obedient lap puppies, they happily defend their master’s talking points! Watching that as a Black woman disgusted me!”
Many believe Reid used her platform to defend “Democratic Party policies like someone in a CULT who MUST not think for herself,” one X user wrote.

Reports of Reid’s final episode of “The ReidOut” sparked reactions of disappointment from her supporters.
“Everytime MSNBC has a ‘shakeup’ the Black woman solo led show is ALWAYS the first to go,” wrote Ambassador Digital Magazine editor-in-chief Musa Jackson on Threads. “Tamron Hall, Tiffany Cross, Zerlina Maxwell and now Joy Reid. Boycott MSNBC.”
Hall, who departed MSNBC in 2017, also commented on Threads, writing. “Where there is JOY there is friendship and love. @joyannreid is the core of a sisterhood where we see each other and rise together. Next Chapter. Love you Joy Reid @thereidout.”
Meanwhile, conservative commentators said “good riddance” to Reid’s show, Fox News reports. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., wrote on X, “The ad execs and the board finally figured out that racism, lies, and Trump derangement syndrome will put them out of business.”
MSNBC will replace “The ReidOut” with a new show hosted by “The Weekend” anchors Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez in the 7 p.m. ET slot.
