
*For its 55th season, “Sesame Street” will have star-studded visitors that include Michael B. Jordan and SZA.
The duo will be on hand to interact with young ones during the upcoming season, which will kick off Jan. 16 on Max, with episodes releasing every Thursday, Vibe reports.
Emotional well-being will be the focus of season 55. Sesame Workshop, the global impact nonprofit behind “Sesame Street,” described the season as an opportunity for children to “learn accessible strategies to comprehend and cope with big feelings through fun, lighthearted, relatable, and engaging stories.
“New episodes of Sesame Street will help young viewers understand and express their feelings, learn new mindfulness practices, and as always, have a blast with their favorite furry and funny friends,” detailed “Sesame Street” executive producer Sal Perez detailed.
Perez continued: “Whether it’s taking a volcano breath when angry, learning to give yourself a hug when frustrated, or wiggling it out when disappointed, we are empowering children with the strategies to help build resiliency and the foundational skills for emotional well-being.”
In addition to SZA and Jordan, the list of celebs on deck for Season 55 will include Reneé Rapp, Noah Kahan (, Chris Stapleton, Samara Joy, Jonathan Van Ness, and Billie Jean King, according to Vibe, per a press statement.
SZA’s appearance on “Sesame Street” was foretold last year when she teased it on social media as a dream “come true.”
“This was the purest happiest day from top to bottom. Thank you for having me and for patching up my inner child,” the “Kiss Me More” Grammy winner wrote on Instagram while sharing “Sesame Street” moments from her time on set with Big Bird, Elmo Oscar The Grouch, and others.

Joining Max in broadcasting season 55 of “Sesame Street will be on local PBS stations across the country as well as the free PBS KIDS Video app in Fall 2025.
