Kevin Powell Criticizes Snoop Dogg’s Trump Performance | Watch

*Writer and activist Kevin Powell criticized Snoop Dogg for performing for Donald Trump ahead of the inauguration, calling it a betrayal of values.

Powell, speaking on TMZ Live, accused Snoop of prioritizing financial gain over loyalty to his fans and community. He also criticized country star Carrie Underwood for performing at the inauguration, questioning why artists with progressive platforms would align with a figure he described as promoting sexist, racist, transphobic rhetoric.

“It tells me you don’t truly care about the people who have supported you all these years,” Powell said.

“This includes fans who are Black, queer, or part of other marginalized communities. All you care about is your career, access, and, once again, the money,” he added.  Watch his full remarks via the YouTube clip above.

We reported earlier that Snoop Dogg hit up social media to respond to the criticism for performing at Trump’s “Crypto Ball” in Washington, D.C., a pre-inauguration event that drew a mix of celebrities and political figures.

Amid social media backlash, Snoop remained unfazed, sharing a video from fellow performer Rick Ross with the caption, “Got a real Crip up in the Crypto Ball, bang bang.” The rapper appeared indifferent to critics who called him a “traitor” for performing at a pro-Trump event.

Several folks highlighted the hip-hop star’s hypocrisy by posting his previous scathing comments about Trump back in the day, and his controversial 2017 music video in which he depicted a Trump-like clown character. Check out the X post below:
