*On January 6, 2025, exactly five years after an infamous day in American history, we here at EURweb received an anonymous message titled “A Letter from Unity.” After carefully considering its contents, we decided to share it.
We felt the message itself reflects a piece of every American. We believe it was sent as a catalyst to open our eyes and remind us that, amid all this uncertainty, unity must prevail. Though this message is anonymous, we believe it in some way speaks for all of us.
It reminds us of the importance of having compassion for our fellow Americans, regardless of their political side, race, creed, or color, it takes us back to a bygone era. A time when our grandparents advised us never to talk politics and to say nothing at all if we had nothing nice to say. It was a time when music, people, and culture drove our nation, led by what would become the Greatest Generation. They overcame the Great Depression and fought in what would be known as the greatest war in history—a conflict that claimed over 65 million lives and reshaped the world with unity as its driving force.
These young men and women, many of whom would never live to see the fruits of that unity, fought on battlefields alongside comrades of all races, creeds, and colors. They were united in their understanding of what was and was not acceptable.
Bound by a common purpose, these young people from around the globe overcame an evil force that threatened our very existence. In doing so, they possessed something we noticeably lack these days: UNITY.

Ironically, that same great generation witnessed the rise of leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Jimmy Carter, whose grandparents’ generation gave us influential figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, his cousin Franklin Roosevelt, and Gandhi.
While we may continue to fight for our rights and civil liberties, and disagree with those on either side, let’s take a moment to remember that those we are fighting are our brothers and sisters.
We are all family. Let’s be reminded that we are all in this together.
This letter will likely evoke different emotions in different people. But one thing is for certain: it urges us to ask where we are headed as a nation, a world, and most importantly as a people.
Only time will tell, but unity, our forgotten friend, should definitely be a part of that future.
Now, HEAR and experience the letter from Unity, below as it’s being read by EURweb’s Lee Bailey:
