*BMF Season 4 is turning up the volume on Atlanta life in the ’90s — from drug empires to mega churches, and the new Black elite in between.
Actor Clifton Powell steps into the role of “Pastor Coleman,” a flashy and charismatic preacher who knows how to fill pews and collection plates.
In Episode 3, airing June 20, Powell makes his “BMF” debut and immediately leaves a mark — with ATM machines in the church lobby, posters of himself on the wall, and sermons that toe the line between spiritual salvation and smooth sales pitch.
“This guy is quite interesting,” Powell shared in an exclusive interview with EUR. “He’s a spiritual man, but also a little capitalistic. That’s a real dilemma for any preacher — trying to stay grounded in faith while navigating power, money, and influence.”

When Lucille (played by Michole Briana White) visits Atlanta with Nicole and meets Pastor Coleman, she’s drawn in by his charisma and confidence. He tells her he sees a light in her and promises he could take her from “church mouse to belle of the ball.” But Powell makes it clear — this isn’t just ego. There’s a strategy behind the charm.
“A pastor’s job is to get people in the church,” he said. “You sweet-talk them, you lead with presence. He’s not all bad — some of it’s for show. But he knows how to use his voice, his style, to draw people in.”
“He’s a showman,” Powell admitted. “But that doesn’t mean he’s not sincere. Some of that money is being reinvested in the community. He’s just a little over the top.”
This season, the storyline digs into the politics of prosperity. Terry and Meech are expanding the BMF brand into Atlanta’s booming music scene — and even the church gets swept into the spotlight.
“The house always wins,” Terry quips when he sees how much money is moving through Pastor Coleman’s service. With celebrities, athletes, and high-rollers in attendance, the energy is more arena than altar.

Powell doesn’t shy away from the complexity of preaching to power: “I think Pastor Coleman sees the trend,” he said. “He’s old school, but he’s smart. He knows this new generation connects to opulence. That’s how you reach people now. That’s how you keep the lights on.”
Still, Powell insists the pastor’s soul is intact — for now.
“He’s grounded. But the higher the pedestal, the more dangerous the fall. That’s what makes him fun to play.”
And while Lucille is new in her leadership role as a pastor, Powell said she sees something in Coleman — and vice versa: “She buys into it a little. And he’s sincere about what he sees in her. But we’ll see how it plays out.”
