*Not surprisingly, on Sunday, CNN political commentator Van Jones became emotional as he reacted to the news that President Joe Biden would not be seeking re-election in the upcoming 2024 presidential race. Jones, a senior political analyst and former Obama adviser, was visibly distressed during his live broadcast.
“We’re seeing the end of an era, and it’s hard to fathom,” Jones said, fighting back tears. “He’s been fighting so hard, and everyone’s just so frustrated. When you finally take the keys away, it breaks your heart because you know it’s someone you love, someone who has been there for you through thick and thin.”
The news caught many by surprise, including former White House Press Secretary and current MSNBC anchor Jen Psaki, reports EW. Psaki, who worked closely with Biden during his early days in office, struggled to maintain her composure on air as she broke the news on her show “Inside with Jen Psaki.” Here’s what she told her audience: “I’m still digesting this,” Psaki said. “I worked for him for a year and a half, and he is a remarkable person and a remarkable president. The news took us all off guard.”

“Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill expressed his admiration for Biden’s accomplishments in an emotional post: “He restored honesty, dignity, and integrity to the office after four years of lies, crime, scandal, and chaos,” Hamill wrote. “Thank you for your service, Mr. President. It’s now our duty as patriotic Americans to elect the Democrat who will honor and further your legacy.”
Similar sentiments poured in from various corners of the entertainment world. Legendary singer Barbara Streisand and rapper Cardi B also shared heartfelt messages thanking Biden and showing their support for Harris.
“We owe so much to President Biden for steering the ship through some of our nation’s most turbulent times,” Streisand tweeted. “Now, it’s time for a new chapter with Vice President Harris leading the charge.”
Cardi B added her voice to the mix, posting, “Biden did his thing and got us through. Now, it’s on us to back Kamala and keep pushing forward.”
