*Tina Knowles is finalizing her divorce from Richard Lawson after a year-long delay.
Ms. Tina, who filed for divorce in 2023 citing irreconcilable differences, has submitted her financial information to the court, though Lawson has yet to do the same, The Blast reports. She is also seeking to revert to her maiden name and terminate any potential spousal support.
As we reported earlier, Richard and Tina were longtime friends before they began dating in 2013 and wed two years later. She was previously married to Mathew Knowles from 1980 to 2011. They share two superstar daughters, singers Beyoncé and Solange. Lawson was also wed once before, to Denise Gordy.
“When I first met Tina, she was pregnant with Beyoncé,” Lawson recalled in a 2019 interview. “I thought she was one of the prettiest women I’d ever seen in my life,” he continued.
“She was even more beautiful inside. She had a very quiet, beautiful spirit,” he added.
“She was married and we respected that,” Lawson said. “We were friends over the years.”
“I went to Houston for the Shakespeare festival in the park in the ’80s. I brought [daughter Bianca Lawson] with me and she stayed at Tina’s house and she took care of Bianca with Beyoncé,” he recalled. “When Beyoncé’s career took off, I didn’t see Tina much for a period of time. Six or so years ago we reconnected.”
Tina and Richard began dating following her split from Mathew. In 2015, they had a star-studded wedding ceremony on a yacht in Newport Beach, California.
