*Samuel L. Jackson is teaming up with Kevin Hart for Peacock’s true crime series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.”
According to TheWrap, “Jackson will portray Frank Moten, an underworld kingpin named the “Black Godfather” by the NY tabloids,” the outlet writes.
Per Peacock, here’s the official synopsis: “Based on the acclaimed true crime podcast, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist tells the infamous story of how an armed robbery during the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life but an entire city’s destiny. The series follows the heavyweight fight and criminal underground heist that introduced the world to the city dubbed “the Black Mecca,” and the cop and the hustler at the center of it all.”
Hart will star in and executive produce the series with Will Packer. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
In related news, we reported previously that Hart will be presented with the 25th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on March 24 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.
“I’ve been doing comedy since the inception of this award 25 years ago. To be honored in this commemorative year feels surreal,” Hart said in a statement, per CNN. “Comedy is my outlet for social commentary and observations on life—I am grateful to the Kennedy Center for recognizing my voice and impact on culture.”
