NC GOP Governor Candidate Advocates Returning to Era When Women Couldn’t Vote | WATCH

*Following his Super Tuesday triumph, a resurfaced video shows Mark Robinson, the Republican contender for North Carolina’s gubernatorial race, expressing a desire to return to an era when women were denied the right to vote.

According to Rolling Stone, the video was filmed during a Republican Women of Pitt County gathering in March 2020. The clip features Robinson during his candidacy for North Carolina’s lieutenant governor, a position he ultimately secured.

In the video snippet, Robinson mentions overhearing a discussion about the phrase “Make America Great Again,” suggesting it harkens back to an America where “women couldn’t vote” and “Black people were lynched.”

In response, Robinson told the crowd, “I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote.”

He continued, “Do you know why? Because in those days, we had people who fought for real social change, and they were called Republican.”

Robinson, a Black man, added, “We want to bring back the America where Republicans and principles and true ideas of freedom rule.”

In related news, we reported that Donald Trump endorsed Robinson for governor at a recent rally, calling him “Martin Luther King on steroids.”

During his speech last week at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, Trump said, “This is Martin Luther King on steroids. I told that to Mark. I said, I think you’re better than Martin Luther King. I think you are Martin Luther King times two,”

The former president endorsed Robinson in the Republican gubernatorial primary scheduled for March 5th, NEWS.MEAWW reports.

In his endorsement speech during the North Carolina rally ahead of Super Tuesday, Trump called Robinson an “incredible gentleman” and a “great, natural speaker.”

“On Tuesday, get out and vote for Mark Robinson for governor, Dan Bishop for attorney general, and Virginia Foxx, Tim Moore and Addison McDowell for Congress. They have my complete and total endorsement, get out there and vote,” Trump told supporters in Greensboro, The (Raleigh) News & Observer reports.

“What an honor to welcome President Donald Trump to my hometown of Greensboro today! I am humbled to have his endorsement,” Robinson said.
